Filip van As is one of the initiators of the platform Ruimte voor Lopen (Space for Walking) and its coordinator since the launch in 2019. Ruimte voor Lopen has more than 75 partners and has recently (2024) developed a National Masterplan on Walking.
Van As is a former local politician, who began his career as a civil servant. He has a MA degree in law and a BA degree in history, both earned from Leiden University.
