I am a third-year PhD candidate researching how to stimulate active mobility in several cities in the North Sea region at the KU Leuven in Belgium. Within my PhD trajectory, I am part of the “Active Cities” project. “Active Cities” is an Interreg North Sea project, where we as so-called knowledge partners help create interventions and assessment methods for the cities’ pilot projects. Within this project, I have primarily focused on perceived walkability, and with the help of the “Walkability App”, I have helped lead and organize several projects related to the environmental perception of pedestrians and how their behavior changed as a response to (environmental) changes. Additionally, we consult with partner cities about their pilots and report on the progress of several behavioral change initiatives within and outside the project.
